The Time Lords had an all-out war with the Daleks. As a consequence, Galifray (the home world for Time Lords) was destroyed and both the Daleks and the Time Lords wiped each out.

It hasn't been discussed yet that I've seen as to whether the Doctor just missed the war, or somehow was the only survivor from the war.

    Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From what I've been able to pick up is that it looks like the Doctor is the one who destroyed both the Time Lords and the Daleks

Spoiler tags are made for this. Works just like "Quote" just use the word "spoiler."

I was just letting you know that there actually is a spoiler tag since you seemed to use a more labor intensive method.
    Like this

Hit the quote button and you'll see how I coded that...

Oops, I thought I was respoding to the poster that I originally put that in for, or assumed so since it seemed like a response to my first post. But I see it's a different person... carry on...

FINALLY! -- My Friday night SCIFI tivoing tradition continues.

BTW saw the BBC Christmas Eve premier of the New doctor for 2006 still havn't seen Eccleston's version.

The new one is OK but I actually thought the story line was a bit weak for that special. Since I've heard such good things about the 2005 shows I can't wait...

One thought -- I wonder how much SciFi will be chopping to account for commercials. MI-5 on A&E (BBC Spooks) actually comes off a bit strange due to some of the missing scenes here in the States (but it is still great either way).

MI-5 is an hour-long show that gets chopped down to 45 minutes. Doctor Who is a 45-minute show, so the damage should be minimal if any.

Doctor Who 2005 is a great addition to the Doctor Who series. I'm sure it won't be shown in widescreen on the SciFi channel though and that's too bad.

I remember my cable co's website mentioning that there were plans to offer the Scifi Channel in HD.

Has anyone else heard anything like this? It was over a year ago that I ran across this mention, so something must've happened by now...right?

I'm watching the Doctor Who 2005 on my iPod video. It's a very good series. Yay, Sci-fi. But now, the Dvds won't be available here until July 4. Drat.

If you do, make sure the DVD's are coded to play on a USA DVD player.

Some DVD players can override it and play DVD's from any country. but those are rare machines.

They aren't particularly rare machines. The cheapest progressive-scan player you can buy at your local Best Buy or Walmart can be easily made multi-region.

The bigger problem is PAL vs. NTSC. However, many machines (including the Cyberhome mentioned above) will also do that conversion.

Canadian DVDs and American are in the same region, and the same format. Copyright restrictions are the only thing that would prevent import of Canadian DVDs. Re: The Dr. Who discs, my only question is if they will actually be released in Canada on Feb 14th. I'd put it at 50/50.
