I recently found out that all directv streams are 480x480 resolution, and much blurrier than a normal TiVo stream.

So, are any of the directv streams pdtv or dsr?

    480x80?

The HR10-250 DirecTV TiVo passes HD resolutions based on the content provider. Does that help?

What's your point? A DirecTivo records the satellite stream directly, and provides a better picture than if you tried to use a regular Tivo to record the satellite signal thru a DirecTV receiver.

All OLD (as discussed here) DirecTv signals are pre-encoded MPEG2 which are decoded at playback to go to your TV
