We upgraded a older TIVO that had the life time subscription on it to a new TIVO series 2 80hrs. After going through the setup ect... we discovered the new TIVO can not see our local channels, through the antenna connect. Because it no longer is allowed due to a ruling of the FCC due to the upcoming HD TV's channels ect.. We have Direct TV that does not give us local channels. The local stations refuse to give a waver. We live too far out for cable of any kind. So after being on the phone with TIVO and Direct TV for hours. We have discovered we have bought a 300 dollar tivo we are now stuck with and can not see the local TV. We did find out how ever that the dish network would give us local channels but they and tivo have told us the new tivo won't work with their receiver. We live in Florida about 50 miles from the beach on the gulf if for no other reason we have to have the local news to know when a storm is coming ect... Hey we have in some years had to leave several times for hurricanes. We won't go there, on how there are many other programs we record on local channels. Can someone in a rural area with our problem using a Dish network suggest a receiver or tell us what you are doing to still receive local channels. And just to be sure all dish network receiver have to use the RF instead of the serial connector?

The Dish 301 and 311 work great with Series 2 TiVos through IR controls. That said, if you have a dual tuner TiVo (Series 2 DT), you won't be able to use the second tuner at all with satellite. Are you not within the 30 day money back guarantee period for your new TiVo?
