I currently have a Series 3 with 2 Comcast cable cards ... works GREAT!

I'm thinking of moving to Dish Network. Their sales guy said that their VIP Duo 222K receiver can be hooked up to a Series 3 and it records fine.

The TiVo support people say that only S1 and S2 receivers work with Dish boxes.

Who's right? I don't want to have to shell out more money to get a Dish DVR if I don't have to!

It's not that I don't trust sales guys ... :roll eyes: ... but I'd rather get info from someone who's actually done it.

    Thanks in advance!

No way the Series 3 will work with any dish receiver to record HD.

Series 3 and above cannot be used with dish/direcTV because there are no inputs other than coax and it cannot control the receivers for changing channels.

This is like the Cablevision lady who told my parents that they don't use cable cards anymore, that they use a box now to control the TivoHD. Idiots...
