Does anyone think that Tivo will now release the long awaited Direct TV Tivo now that the Dish lawsuit is over? Lets hope so.

Curious what Directv thinks of the new Dish/TiVo settlement/partnership/agreement.

The TiVo/Echostar settlement will (or at least should) have no effect on the current DirecTV TiVo.

So which one will be available first? DirecTiVo or DishTiVo?

I saw nothing to suggest that there would be a "DishTiVo". This is the sort of settlement many expected all along.

DirecTV TiVo will be, at least seems it may be.

So far, there is no indication there will be a DishTiVo. The settlement is all about Dish licensing TiVo patents for existing and possibly future DVRs Echostart has made or may make themselves, not TiVo making an Echostar DVR.

I agree this is the only settlement that made sense once it was clear that Dish could not overturn the judgment. Dish may have ultimately saved money with all of the legal maneuvering but it also managed to reduce the total cost if there was no settlement which in turn encouraged TiVo to settle. It was quite a long drawn out process but TiVo was a big winner, although not as big as it once seemed it might be.

DirecTV should be the only satellite service with TiVo branded DVRs but Dish can inadvertently build some that are very similar now without fear of legal reprisal.

I recently cancelled my TiVo service. Switched over to DirecTV. The lady at TiVo informed me that the box "DirecTivo" is built but hasn't been released yet. Take that with a grain of salt.
