After hearing her say what she said, I immediately rewound and listened again to see if she ever said she heard two voices. My takeaway was that her dialog was very carefully crafted so that viewers would come away with that feeling, but that she never actually said there were two voices or even that she heard both sides of the conversation.

I think the fact that they brought Dexter's brother back was a big clue that the professor is dead. The writers wanted to remind the viewers that serial killers see dead people. When it is finally revealed I think the part of the audience who is truly surprised will just feel like the writers cheated. The rest of us are going to be unimpressed.

Would have been interesting to see a John Lithgow cameo in this episode.

I agree. She never said she heard two voices just that there were 2 people.

I just know that Travis' sister is going to end up being the final sacrifice.

They made too much of a point of showing the Nebraska pen...methinks he is going to get busted with it by somebody.

I agree about the pitchfork scene. Glad he killed the guy, though. He was a total dick and you could tell nothing good was going to come from that character. On a side note, it didn't make sense to me for Dexter to leave his tools in the car and relinquish control of the car to hayseed boy.

I think that Travis is like Norman Bates...one body, two voices/personalities.

I thought the 'shooting up signs and stuff' deal kind of weird and sloppy. It's hard for me to see Dexter do sloppy stuff.

I feel sorry for Arthur's kid. I hope he takes Dexter's advice to forgive himself.

I had that thought also, which is a bummer as I really like that actor. I became a fan of hers in the short-lived Swingers (was that the name?) series.

ETA - I looked it up and the show was called Swingtown. Loved it...guess I was the only one. :D

Cool, that confirms what I thought. She just heard one voice but based on what she said and what she felt she THOUGHT there were two people there.

Molly Parker is a great actress who deserves a much bigger role than this -- which she is getting on the upcoming show The Firm, co-starring with Josh Lucas.

During the first season of Boardwalk Empire, Nucky (one of the main characters) had a photograph of his dead wife and it was Molly Parker. I keep looking for there to be flashbacks featuring her, but so far, no go.

I'll look for her in The Firm, but that show will be bittersweet for me since I'm enjoying Prime Suspect so much.

Come on, I thought this was a cable show. They could have shown a little more detail during the convenience store stock room scene. :)

I'm on the fence about the Professor being imaginary. It almost seems like they are intentionally blurring the lines with these characters trying to make us think he is imaginary. Still leaning that way, just not as strong.

I'm curious about the poster here, who she knew from reading our threads that he might be imaginary but her husband hadn't even thought about it because he doesn't come here......if she has been able to keep it a "secret" or if he came up with his own doubts!

Agreed, but I think she's going to be much more prominent going forward. I figure she'll be central in the battle between sane Travis and crazy Travis.

That was me, and I have not given up the 'secret' -- yet. All he knows is that there is some "speculation that could turn out to be a spoiler" in this forum; at one point I even asked him if he wanted to know what it was. He said he didn't, but of course he then said that I could tell him if I thought it would enhance his viewing experience. Sigh...

I actually paused the scene where the girl was talking about the "two people" that abducted her, and started to say, "I think it's time to tell you about the speculation". I pictured him having an "Aha!" moment. But the comments from this forum (in answer to my query about whether to tell him or not) flashed thru my head and I kept quiet once again. If the story keeps going as I think it will, and Gellar does turn out to be imaginary, his "Aha!" moment will be even greater.

This was a real odd episode that I am glad is resolved. I could not stand much more of the brother somehow helping Dexter kill people and find patches of weed in the middle of Nebraska cornfields.

It didn't make sense how the evil brother was interacting with objects other than to show that the professor could be imaginary even though he interacts with objects.

Hopefully this is just a one off in a stellar season so far.

Here you go. The base url to the image still works, but some of the extra parameters were no longer valid.
