This was a great episode. I just have a good feeling about this season: I think it's going to be fantastic. Don't know why... it just seems like they're setting up some really interesting directions for exploration.

It seemed a little lame that they threw in a sister for Batista that we'd never heard of before, but oh well. I'm sure that will lead somewhere.

Love Edward James Olmos. Can't wait to see what he does here.

He is certainly creative in his murders. Did you see the preview for next episode?

I'm not entirely convinced that Edward James Olmos' character is real/still alive. He's almost like Harry's evil counterpart.

I almost missed the crucial explanation of who she was and spent the next half an episode thinking he was hitting on the much younger babysitter while on the rebound after his divorce.

I'm sure Dawn will play a 'key' role this season.

Thought it was an excellent episode. I really thought Dexter had been stabbed in the opening scene! Thinking its gonna be a great season.

I liked it but there were parts that I thought were ridiculous. So he's solved the classmates murders, it seemed pretty elementary, blood under her finger nails, how come the investigators didn't solve this (how did they conclude it was a suicide)? The whole reunion was dumb, a weekend reunion at the high school??? Why couldn't he just buy the QB a drink and take the glass and get a DNA sample from that instead of having a football game. Lame.

100% in agreement. My wife and I both thought this while watching. Olmos did not have any physical interaction with the world and very much seemed like a voice in the head.

thank goodness for a single episode thread!

I liked the episode a lot, although the Hanks/Olmos thing felt a little forced. I'm sure it will reveal itself, in the coming weeks, to be fascinating so I didn't get stuck on that.

Loved the beginning with the 'stabbing' deal.

What is STILL bugging me from last season is that Quinn still has those pics of Dexter and Lumen in the boat dumping bags (they found them in his apt, but left them there). I'd like to see that resolved, but I guess I tend to be impatient.

I bet a lot of you are glad that Laguerta & Batista got divorced. :D Laguerta looks amazing and it looks like Batista might have lost some weight.

My only other remark is that I cannot imagine Dexter hiring Batista's sister as a babysitter, knowing that it would bring Batista around. I wouldn't think he would want anybody from Metro around his apt, with the exception of his own sister. I don't know - I just felt oddly uncomfortable about that.

So the super hot blonde, prom queen, giving Dexter a BJ, for some reason I got the feeling she was stealing some of Dexter's sperm.

Where would she have put it?

If she were stealing semen, I'd think the way to do it would be intercourse.

I don't know what it was, but there WAS something odd about that whole scenario.

That's all I was getting at, it seemed weird. Unless she was such a slut as to have banged the entire male student body, and now was getting those that slipped through the cracks. Or she's exactly like Dexter, and was getting a DNA sample of her own.

I found it odd that he would even attend the reunion and anyone would even know who he is.

The reunion was local wasn't it?

Dexter's been involved in some very big cases, as well as having his wife killed by a serial killer.

The addition of the hot sister was abrupt.

Yeah, I just have the vibe that this won't be the last we see of her. Something's up. (no pun) :D

Yes. Afaik, every flashback has indicated that Dexter and Deb were raised in the Miami area and that dad worked for the same Miami metro police force (or whatever they call it on the show to distinguish it from the RL one). I don't think Dexter has ever lived anywhere else.

I didn't get any other vibe except that she was, and still is the class slut.

And that Dexter is now the cool kid, which looks like it might be a theme of this season.

So what are you predicting? That she has some connection to an enemy of Dexter's? That she was hired by someone to approach Dexter? Or that she is just some random weirdo that is going after Dexter for no particular reason?
