Desktop does not find a TiVo DVR on home networkork

    Go the message on my TiVo Desktop when trying to pick recordings to transfer.

    There have been no changes to my PC (no new programs) nor to my cable box or TiVo, nor to my home network. I reset TiVo and it sees the network fine, as well as the TiVo service. I rebooted my PC, and still get this message. Strange thing is that TiVo Desktop sees and fully completes Auto-Transfer.

    Using Desktop 2.8.2 the latest version on Windows 7 without problems for months. TiVo unit is 412E model, using the TiVo wireless USB connection to my network. These have also been trouble free.

    Can the TiVo see files on the computer?

    Neither the Desktop (PC) nor the TiVo can see what the other one has.

    Strange thing is that the Auto-Transfers continue to work.

    What discovery method are you using?

    To check, go to the Tivo Server Properties and click the Network tab.

    You might try resetting the MAK in Tivo Desktop.

    I am using TiVo Beacon, as I have for many years without problems.

    Go figure, resetting the Media Access Key did it.

    Im having a similar problem. Ive been using TiVo Desktop for a few years without problems. No change in ISP, no change in network settings, no change in computer. Now I cannot see the DVR from TiVo Desktop. However, my wife's laptop with TiVo Desktop sees it just fine and can complete transfers, so I know the TiVo is on the network and her TiVo desktop is set up properly.

    I uninstalled and then re-installed TiVo Desktop and its still not working. Any suggestions? It must be a setting on my computer since my wife's laptop works just fine.

    The solution for me, and it sounds like you have the same problem, is to re-install the media access key on the TiVo Desktop.

    I re-typed in my media access key and restarted the DVR. Still not working. Anything else?

    ok.. new bit of info. I switched from Bonjour to Tivo beacon and now it can see the DVR, all my recordings show up, but when I click to transfter a recording it does the first 1% and then it stops and the transfer time changes from 14 minutes to "unavailable"
