I have a Roamio Plus and Mini, both with lifetime subscriptions.

I switched providers so I'm not using my Roamio Plus or Mini right now. The Roamio Plus is still connected to the Internet but doesn't have a CableCard connection while the Mini is turned off.

I've heard that after a period of inactivity, Tivo may deactivate devices, including those with Lifetime subscriptions and that I could lose my Lifetime subscriptions?

    Is this true?

Will I have problems using my Roamio Plus and Mini at a later time?

Not true. Lifetime is retained. You will have no problems in the future using either one of your TiVo.

Your Roamio needs to connect to verify its subscription every so often, but the CableCARD has nothing to do with that process, it just needs to be connected to the Internet. Even if its authorization times out, it should reinstate the next time it connects. As Bill says, you won't lose your Lifetime.

    Thanks.

Tivo is way better than the Uverse DVR but for at least the next year, I'm not paying higher subscription fees to Comcast.

However I may end up cutting the cord too.

While you won’t lose lifetime periodically TiVo has upgrade offers where the device has to have connected to the TiVo servers within a recent period of time (one year I think?)

I have a Premiere that was in storage for almost a year. Once it was powered up, it showed no lifetime or TiVotogo features active. After it was connected to the internet, it made a service connection and lifetime features were restored.

Sure, but 11 months from now “older” might include Roamios. Better safe..

A Roamio Plus won’t be of much help on that front.

Ok, good, as do I, at present, but that’s an entirely different matter.

Same here. But what if TiVo comes out with new hardware?

I'm going to put that on my "do not wait" list. So far, the only new item is the Mini WiFi adapter. It's still living in vaporware land.
