That's why I believe that KCOP 13 (not KTTV) will essentially become a dumping ground for Fox.
On the other hand, KCAL 9 is still an independent (though I couldn't tell you what they show anymore other than news).

I think you meant KCOP dies and I doubt seriously that'll happen. More likely Fox will create a mini-network or Fox2 to program their UPN stations which are losing their network.

AS long as Veronica Mars and Supernatural stick around I am happy.

I record nothing on channel 9. I couldn't tell you anything they have on except for the news and Laker road games.

I'm glad KTLA will get the new network, their OTA signal is a lot stronger than KCOP.

I imagine KCOP will suddenly find the money and resources to broadcast HD when Fox2 starts up.

Now if I can just get my local affiliates to broadcast the new network in HD! One local company runs both UPN and WB and they broadcast both digitally with about 5 watts of power, just to meet the legal definition for digital broadcasts. They don't even let the local cable company pick up their digital output and they don't run anything in HD. What idiots! And here the CBS affiliate (WRAL-Raleigh, NC) was the first HD station in the country! This area knows and likes HD!

I'm wondering if my cable only WB and low power UPN will create a full power CW baby? :)

I wonder how many people will truly be affected by the loss of much of the slop/reruns that are the current staple of these Networks ?

I'm down to just 3 shows, total, from both.

Oops. KCOP. :) I do record one thing on KCAL. There is a 30 minute talking head show that covers African American issues. It obviously is syndicated.

I know I am jumping the gun but I think Charmed will be gone by next year. Were they not hanging by a thread last year? SOme of the latest episodes have been good though.

The reruns have nothing to do with UPN or WB...they're syndicated separately and will stick around after this change.

(Unless you mean the reruns of the prime-time UPN or WB slop in question... :D)

DirecTV will treat CW like they treated WB and UPN. If it's on over the air in a market where they provide locals, they'll provide it.

The problem for many of us is what I underlined in your reply. They need to provide it to non locals subscribers.

You mean as "distants," like the NY and LA affiliates available for people who aren't within a Grade B signal of an affiliate? I doubt they'll do that. They didn't for WB or UPN. I think there might have been a legal reason why they couldn't, but I don't remember.
