Cox has a decent On-Demend selection at Channel 1, but the only thing that happens with my TiVo when selecting Channel 1 is I get a Cox, On-Demand barker video.

Can the actual on-demand platform of Cox, or any cable company, be accessed via TiVo?

I’m talking about the free material on Cox’s servers.

“No” it’s not currently possible, or “No” it will never be possible? Is it a coding deficiency on TiVo’s part, or a reluctance of the cable companies to allow it, in your opinion?

The cable companies don’t want it to because they want you renting their equipment and free VOD is a plus for that IMO.

And that’s ok with the FCC, who mandated cable card inclusivity for TiVo and other manufacturers? If the cable company cripples the cable card’s abilities, that seems like a violation?

My cable company supplies a free DTA. It doesn't do VOD. I think when they started renting the Arris/TiVo last year the VOD was on the menu bar. Now it seems to be an app and it's a button on the remote, replacing the Skip button.

Actually yes...but right now ONLY for cable co. that now offer their own, leased Tivo units...think Mediacom, RCN, Service Electric, Blue Ridge, etc.
And unfortunately, it does NOT work for subs on those same systems, that purchase their own retail Tivo's & use CC's.
Comcast USED to offer OND on retail Tivos', but removed it back this past June.

Yes, I only meant similar in terms of "it used to be available for retail TiVo users, but no longer is."

From your replies, it seems that Cox On Demand *should* be available for retail TiVo users, if certain prerequisites are met.

What’s the mystery, then, is that the OP was aware of the Cox On Demand app, per their posting to one of the linked threads...
