    Newport...
Starting Monday, June 20, Countdown with Keith Olbermann returns to television on Current TV. Although the name of the show remains the same, the guide data now shows the name of the show as simply Keith Olbermann. He told Fresh Air's Terry Gross that his new show resembles his old show on MSNBC but "with some additional bells and whistles and a little bit more commentary."

Go here if you need to find out what channel this is on on your cable system. Just enter your zip code. Current is available in 60 million homes, which is more than MSNBC had when KO started there.

Not in my area, never will be. Current is a liberal leaning channel and in my area there are very few liberals. I was lucky to see Olbermann on an nationwide channel carried by most cable companies. As far as I am concerned it might as well be a lame web broadcast. I wish he could have gotten a gig on a real channel.

Around here that channel is only on satellite and I have Charter Cable. I did the online 'request the channel from your cable co' dealio, but I won't hold my breath or anything.

Never say never -- it's possible that, at some point, Current could sign a deal with whichever cable operator serves Ridgecrest that would result in the channel being added to all their systems nationwide.

And, as noted, it's already available on both DirecTV and Dish Network, which are technically in every area.

Mediacom? They dragged their feet getting National Geographic Wild on to replace the very defunct Fox Reality channel. They serve small and rural areas, not Current TV territory.

I checked the show lineup on the internet page and it looks varied but we have cooking channels and documentary channels so the only thing it is adding is its viewpoint. My area has about 70% GOP to 30% Democrat registration. :)

    Yeah, bout...
Wish we got Current TV here.. As long as his show is being recorded in a digital format, there are ways of obtaining it. ;)

I'm very excited for Keith's return to television. And it looks like Current has very ambitious plans for both the channel (quoting Olbermann from the first article I linked to, "We are gearing toward eventually being a 24-hour news, commentary and information network.")and their coverage of the 2012 presidential election.

It's channel 358 on DirecTV, for what it's worth.

    IMHO he had two choices:

    1. Get a gig on a "real" channel and be censored. Been there, done that.
    2. Get on a fringe channel and be himself.

Not sure if anybody here saw it but last month's GQ had a great story about Keith and the beginning of Sports Center on ESPN.

Keith returns to a channel where he will be seen by even less viewers than he had on the almost non-existent audience at MSNBC... Welcome back!

The amount of viewers Current TV gets in primetime is approximately the same number that msnbc was getting in 2003 when Keith returned to msnbc.

I would not call Comcast, DirecTv, and Dish combined as "less viewers". Added together, thats a pretty big chunk of the country.
