Could lost network connection cause this behavior?

For a few days, I have been unable to bring up recorded programs on my Roamio OTA from a folder that contains more than one. The spinning circle just sits there. Even though the last network connection had succeeded, I ran the network diagnostics today and the DNS check failed and it would no longer connect to my router on the 5G band. I got a C213 error. I switched to the 2.4G band and it seems to be ok now. I was able to open a folder and start one of the recordings without a problem.

Is the failure to load a recording a sign of a lost or bad network connection? I thought that recorded programs are saved on the hard drive so I don't understand why the network connection would affect playing a recorded program.
