No problem here in MA, so it's gotta be local to you.

I just bought a DVD Recorder and I am having the same problem. Only I don't have a cable box. I called my cable company and they tell me that there is no way possible that the problem can be on their end. I'm inclined to believe them since Tivo told me themselves that version 8.1 software has a few "glitches" in it.

I am so mad about this! I have already lodged a complaint with the BBB for Tivo misrepresenting its service (I can't even transfer programs using TivoToGo). But if someone out there has a way I can fix this please let me know!

I have a Tivo Series 2 DT recorder
I have a Magnavox DVD recorder
I am NOT using a cable box or satellite receiver

I cannot record because it says that every program on every channel is copy protected. I cannot transfer to PC and burn with Media Creator software b/c Version 8.1 software causes Tivo to reboot during transfers.

I have DishTv and am experiencing the same thing. Every Tivo program I try to record on DVD, I get a message that the program is not allowed to be recorded. I can however bypass the TiVo unit and go straight from satellite to the DVD recorder and receive no error message. I called TiVo and they said the TiVo unit is digital and they thought the newer DVD recorders have software that detects this and doesn't allow recording. They weren't sure why I was able to record directly from the satellite signal though. They said they are working on the problem and hope to possibly have a resolution some time in the future. So in my case, the problem is definitely with the feed coming from the TiVo unit, not from my programming provider.

    Hamilton,...

I don't understand. Do you have a TiVo with integrated DVD recorder, or a regular TiVo connected to a set-top burner? Or, do you have a DVD TiVo unit and another DVD burner?

I think what's happening is there is no Macrovision on the signal, but that the guide info supplied to TiVo contains the copyright flag. Any chance you could give the time/channel/show details?

    Thanks,
    Roger

I have a Series 2 TiVo and a separate/ stand alone Magnavox DVD recorder. Both are only a couple of months old. I didn't have any problems with my old piece of junk Cyberhome DVD recorder and Humax TiVo. I definitely think there is a signal from the TiVo that is throwing up a copyright flag and causing my problems. Proof being that I can record the signal directly from the Satellite signal but not from the TiVo unit. Just to test some of the others comments, I reset my satellite box and no improvement...same problem.
