Tried HandBrake, but would not work. Any other way to do it?
I use VideoRedo TV Suite 5. I have not found a way to preserve closed captions in VRD so I convert to Mpeg 2 and use VidCoder to convert to Mpeg 4 with CCs.
The question is why do you need to convert to MP4? If its to send back to Tivo, then leave it as MPEG2.
IIRC you have to install TiVoDesktop (TDP) to enable VRD to read in .TiVo files. You can pause the TDP server just to minimize the resources it uses. Links to download the latest free TDP are available on this forum.
Try this one:
I'm getting the .tivo files with pytivo and then converting with pavtube.
problem is the picture is scrambled and there is no sound?
New program for 1 step TTG downloads, decryption, encoding - kmttg
I snagged that, but it's unix?
It's written in Java, so will work on most any hardware, near as I can tell...
No, you just need Java 8 installed, then run the .JAR file.
The reason you are getting scrambled video is because Tivo file is encrypted, and TivoDecode is what is used to decrypt, using the MAK (Media Access Key) and Pavtube does not have that key. KMTTG includes TivoDecode and another method, TivoLibre.
...ok. got it. was trying to run the script instead of the .jar...
Tho pavtube does require the mak...
You can also just use DirectShow dump without running kmttg.
I have a standalone copy I downloaded back around 2006 but a version is also included in kmttg (dsd folder).
I love videoredo. I use it to cut commercials and covert to mpeg2 to put stuff on my plex when I pull it off a tivo...Because I don't think you can push/pull back to a Bolt...I've been using series 3 for ages...
You cannot pull to a Bolt or any other Tivo that is running Hydra/TE4/V21, but under v20, you still can.
Meaning the TE3 user interface--i.e., the non-Hydra/non-TE4 UI.
Looks like VideoRedo is PC only.
I use ConvertXtoVideo and have a lifetime license so I get new versions for free.
