I have an old Series 3 TiVo that I replaced with a BOLT years ago. As far as I know, it's still working. It was working when we replaced it and I just put it on a shelf and it's been there since then. I was going to either put it in Electronics Recycling, or maybe sell it on eBay. But I wondered if it could be somehow converted to work as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device?? It has a hard drive and Ethernet port, obviously, so all I would need to do is attach it to my network and be able to access the hard drive to store stuff on?

Is this possible? I've checked on the forum and I don't see anyone wanting to turn the box itself into a NAS. Lots of posts about attaching to the box. :)

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

It is very limited and can only store shows, as long as it has a lifetime Tivo Service. The max size drive it can handle is 2TB. The power supply is limited and is common to have the capacitors fail/failing without notice. It would not be a NAS.

Bummer. I thought I could get some use out of it. I've had TiVo through several variations/upgrades to the box itself. The Series 3 was at least my 2nd, if not 3rd TiVo. Oh well. Thanks for the reply! I knew I could find an answer here.
