thanks this worked for me - don't care of power stays on put dimmer on on screen actual unit has a converter that then only uses 24v for the bar - I'm ok with it not using to much power by leaving it on
AUX input from TV Audio out is the way to go then just control the volume using the TV volume - thanks.

    My Experience. WORKING!

My Soundbar is a K450, MY Tv is an older Samsung (LN46B750 JUNE09)
Find and turn on AnyNet+ (on TV)
Installed a HDMI Cable from #3(my unused port) to the OUT port on the SoundBar.
Installed a Optical Sound Cable, and delected D.IN
Tivo Remote Code 0305 runs my TV, and my Soundbar, with visual feedback on the TV

to program TIVO+MUTE 5seconds, type code, hit mute to test. TV says MUTE, Soundbar says Mute.

My tv is already set for external sound from previous AV unit

Huge thumbs up to Benjamin, this worked for me exactly as describe above - too!!! All of the other suggestions from the other threads didn't work. In particular, none of the Tivo remotes I had could successfully learn from the Samsung soundbar remote, and none of the various Samsung TV and AV codes worked (even after doing an all code search).

In my case, it was a HW-K550 soundbar, and similar vintage Samsung TV. I already had the Optical audio cable from TV to soundbar, and added the HDMI as described. This seems slightly odd, but AnyNet+ is poorly documented, so I'm just happy that it works. I didn't even have to turn off the speakers on the TV, as it recognized that the sound bar now has the audio. Also nice that the soundbar now powers on/off at the same time as the TV. Thanks again!

I have a HW-E550 soundbar and use code 0305 to control both Samsung TV on/off and soundbar volume. You might try doing a reset on your remote and reprogramming it.

Worked for me too, I did have to turn the Anynet+ on on the sound bar via the sound bar remote to make it work.
