I recently purchased a TiVo Roamio OTA - 1 TB with All-in (Lifetime) Service I can't get it to work. I keep getting stuck on the setup page where it says downloading info then I get the error: connection interrupted. I get this with the wireless or ethernet cable hooked up. I called the internet provider to have the ports opened like the error says re-started the router & still the same thing I can't get his god dam thing to work. technical support told me to return the box so I did & got another one & it's doing the same exact thing. other things in the house work fine on the wireless system. what's the problem? any ideas? I got spectrum high speed internet & the router is new....

There's been reports that rebooting the modem can clear that issue up...have you tried that?

When you log in to TiVo.com does your TiVo show up as activated?

A quick test: repeat guided setup but choose a different zipcode in the same time zone. Perhaps your guide data is corrupt. Two boxes with that problem doesn't sound like your problem.

it shows my boxes activation number & then has the date it was activated. when I first put in the info it said 24 hours before it's processed, then it changed to an activated date...

these boxes seem to be troublesome the more I read about them. I'm new to TiVo, but might leave the TiVo crowd soon...

it's not my problem I got 30 days to return it for full refund, but I love the features these boxes have & would love for it to work, would be a shame if I have to return this one as well.....

he used my zip code in California & said it works, but what good is it if it works for him & not me? technical support the last time just gave up on me.

TiVo has more than one server. It's the reason that sometimes you need to perform two consecutive connections. Something in the TiVo box knows there was a failure and will try the other server. There was a problem last year with some clocks being off. It was regional and I learned TiVo has three different time servers.

You could add your location to your profile.

Not to my knowledge. Thinking of more ideas: I think you can configure the box for cable. Just pick a provider and see if it can download a cable guide. All you're spending is time.

Top of any page. Click on your name. Where is says "Location", just add Cleveland, OH.

how would changing from cable to antenna work when I have an antenna? also changing my zip code how would that work? I have an online account with my zip code in it.... I will try these tonight, but if they do work wouldn't that show me the wrong program guide? I couldn't record programs then because the guide would disp[lay their guide not my local one

I tried other zip codes same thing. now I just called the internet provider to have those ports opened like the error message said. I did this before with the box I returned, but the internet provider told me they were blocked maybe this will work. they said to wait 15 minutes for the changes to take place will post an update here if this works as what the hell else can be wrong?

Most of the time it is not the ISP blocking ports but your router firewall is.

As a test you could hook up the Tivo to the router by Ethernet cable then place the IP address the Tivo receives from the router in the DMZ.

Or temporarily turn off your routers firewall would be another way to test.

Look at post 1. You posted that you can not download anything. The object is to see if the downloading is bad TiVo data for your zipcode or something bad at your location. Your location is defined by your zipcode. By switching to cable a completely different set of download data will happen. If they fail, it's you (your stuff) and not TiVo. Sorry I wasn't clear about what we were trying to accomplish.

    Thanks for adding your location.

it works finally! I just lowered the firewall security settings & it then downloaded info & started up. how I have to learn how to use it. first question does it have an on & off switch? I assume it works as the tv's tuner now? I have to view the tv through the TiVo box & the tv's tuner no longer I use? I want to learn how to configure the firewall so I can set the security settings on high again as it's lowered so the box works now...
