While watching the latest episode of Power, I saw multiple warnings that Comcast was dropping Starz on December 11th. I checked out the website the warnings mentioned and it does seem final. Apparently, they did the same thing with Cinemax over the summer and I didn't even notice. I know that my cable bill didn't go down, though. That leaves me with just HBO and Showtime on Comcast and I don't watch much of anything on Showtime. Amazon Prime has a Starz and an HBO channel so I'll probably drop my pay channel subscriptions with Comcast and watch shows on those two channels on Amazon, not like I need to be giving Amazon any more of my money.

With the exception of Power, which I find excellent... Starz really IMO doesn't have any shows worth paying for. Most of their stuff seems to come from European shows or whatever. I will drop Starz after the final Power episodes run in Jan.

Are they dropping it from an "included in packages" to "additional fee" or completely dropping it. I don't watch Starz that often, but I like to flip around and occasionally find something.

However, they are adding three EPIX channels to replace Starz.

The Comcast and Starz statements seem a little different or maybe I'm getting lost in the weeds.

    KEEP STARZ!

there are a lot of weeds here. As I understand it:

Dec 10 - Comcast drops most of the tertiary Starz and StarzEncore channels, but not the main channels. Also removing the main channels from premium packages, making them add-on only.
Dec 31 - Comcast could drop all of them if a new deal isn't reached.

My aunt will be very upset if she loses Starz. She's a HUGE Outlander fan. She even travels around the country/world to various cons each year.

I just went to the Xfinity website to see if I could drop my movie channels except for the HBO series. I didn't see an easy way to do that so I'll end up calling a rep who'll try to sell me something more. I'm thinking I want to keep HBO on Comcast but stream Starz, Cinemax and Showtime through Amazon Prime or Roku when I want to binge.

Try calling back and talking to someone else. With everybody cutting the cord these days, Comcast has become much more aggressive with their pricing, at least in my area. I recently switched to a new plan with all the same channels and three times faster internet for $40 less a month.

I’m still getting Starz and Epix has been added. Starz was part of my package so I’m not sure if I’ll be charged separately for it now.

The cable providers pull this crap all the time as part of a negotiating tactic with the various channel providers. It's either give us a deal we can live with or we drop you, plain and simple. They usually get it worked out in the end. I just ignore it when I see the crawling banners about channels being dropped. If my provider drops a channel then there are many other ways to get it, legal and otherwise.

Comcast and Starz came to an agreement, so the remaining Starz and Encore channels aren't going away. However, anyone who was getting Starz as part of a package have had it replaced with Epix, and will need to subscribe to Starz separately. That includes the 3 premiums for $30 discount I previously took advantage of.

After my initial stink about Comcast dropping Starz, I still haven't done anything, totally due to laziness. I really need to examine my cable package and streaming options. I'm already paying for Epix through Amazon Prime Video. I need to see if it's prohibitively more expensive to drop all movie channels from Comcast and move to their streaming options on Amazon or maybe Roku.

My TiVo knows nothing about the Epix channels event though the change was a while ago. I've mailed tivo a pdf file of the lineup I downloaded from the xfinity web site, maybe the two will agree some day.

had an offer pop on my FB feed for 6 mo. of Starz for $19.95. took them up on it so the Missus can be ready for Outlander.

(deal is for the app, not anything connected to Comcast)

Looks like I have to wait until May, when my contract runs out, to make any major changes to my Comcast subscriptions.
