Comcast New box

    A cablecard slot would be required so it isn't that interesting.

    It looks like it's already got a cable card module installed.

    All new cable boxes require cable cards. Since they aren't customer replaceable they are hidden inside of the box. Of course a screw driver can get behind the closed door.

    not quite 5-6 years but it's been a while.

    the S3 is only ~5.5 years old and it was an anomaly that it had cards. sometime after once cable had pissed everyone but tivo sufficiently to give up on the cards- the FCC cracked down and made them use the cards too for their on stuff.

    But since they didn't require them to do the same field pairing that Tivo requires it was an epic waste of everyone's time and money since it had no effect on not supporting the cards for tivo.
