I am at the crossroads of what to do for my media center. I have been a dish sub for the last 5 years and I have come to love the dvr it has for the functionality and micro managment of functions.....then I moved and got comcast. So its cheaper but I find the dvr to be too dumbed down and basically retarded.
I decided to build a DVR out of a pc I have, so far I can get the guide and record but not the pay stations....I understand that TiVo can get a card from comcast to operate with but can I get a reader for my pc?

I would like to run the pc but I might just roll with a TiVo HD duel tuner box.......I am open to any thoughts.

According to what I have seen, CableLabs requires that a complete
PC be tested/reviewed before certifying it as CableCard ready.

That seems to mean you would have to purchase a prebuilt PC
with that certification versus adding a CableCard reader onto your
present PC.
