    Houston/Bren...
Season Three of Colony (USA) started last night. With a six month (?) time jump. Sawyer Will Bowman & family hiding out in the woods, along with Snyder, that traitorous db.

Lots to process in S3E1. Are there other aliens? Alien vs Alien? What's up with that droid walker that looked right at them, then turned away? And is there anything we can do to get rid of the whiny, emo teen?

I enjoy this show, it's not high brow TV, but it's fun. I've never been a fan of SWC (here, or in TWD), and teens, as portrayed on TV, drive me nuts. But it's still fun. Hope they can keep it up for S3.

I caught part of an interview with Josh Holloway. He said that this season would be more “sci-fictioney” (words to that effect).
Also, since the production has moved to Vancouver, they would be outside more often and there would be running, explosions etc.
I guess he wasn’t hired for his eloquence. :)

One of my friends on FB posted about Colony, said they'd be happy if he did an entire show without his shirt.

Now if I said that about {insert any hottie female}, I'd be drawn & quartered for sexism and misogyny.

Nice touch on the sound effects. There was actually a delay between the visible explosion and the audible boom.

As he mentioned, it's happened before -- e.g. when he was scaling the wall. He's apparently on a do-not-kill list, although no one understands why. It could be a leftover from when he was working for them, although they should've been reprogrammed by now...

Did anyone get a better look at the alien than I did? It seemed to make a big impression on the Bowmans, but I just got a vague blob...

OMG, living in a log cabin for 6 months with Snyder!?! They will burn him to the ground when they find out he’s a plant.

I’ve never been to LA but is there any areas near there with a forest that huge?

I would have though they’d try to hook up with the resistance by now. Especially since they have the gauntlet.

That thing in the ship definitely looked biological. And nasty. Hopefully, it was an enemy of the RAPs. The ship was a different design from the drones.

I felt bad when they capped that injured Grayhat. I guess, if you’re with the Nazis, you’re against us. But, still, he was human.

So, theoretically, Swiss family Robinson could still be close to LA?

But is there a forest with a ski lift that close to LA? Big Bear is a ways, isn't it?

There is stuff on the back side of Angeles Crest.

I have never been there, so I can't say what features it has, though.

Why the ongoing comments on LA?
We know they moved to Vancouver for filming and they said it was about 6 months since they left LA, they could have gone quite a distance after they left LA

I don't know. I was just going with the flow. I figured it was probably being filmed in BC.

I've skied at Wrightwood a couple of times and the resort the Bowmans were near seemed nicer.
(I'm guessing one of the ski resorts just north of Vancouver.)

I've also spent time at Crestline/Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear in the summer.

To answer @RGM1138 's question, there is a mountain range between Los Angeles and what's called "The High Desert" (which includes Lancaster, Palmdale, Victorville and Barstow).
A good portion of that mountain range consists of the Angeles National Forest.

Now, if I recall correctly, the pilot came in from Lancaster and Apollo Creed, I mean Beau, ( ;) ) talked about having a cabin in Big Bear, so I'm guessing that's where the Bowmans and Toady, I mean, Snyder were hiding out.

I think that in story, the Bowmans are supposed to be in the Big Bear area, especially if it's their intent to hook up the Lancaster resistance previously mentioned.

Out of story, it looks enough like "Planet Vancouver" that a small part of me expected to hear "Jaffa Kree!"

SWC? TWD? Not sure what you are referring to.

I thought it was a fun episode, but, reminded me of Falling Skies. I like that they are getting out of the LA bubble that the first 2 seasons were on and we can see a bit more of what the aliens have wrought.

Sarah Wayne Callies. She plays the wife/mom on Colony, and the lead's wife on The Walking Dead. I didn't like her character on TWD, but just thought it was written that way. Then Colony arrives, and she plays the same acting style. Either she only gets roles like that, or that's just the way she acts.

And emo teens. You know those warnings at the beginning of TV shows--Violence or Mature Language or Nudity. They need to add one for Emo Teens. Even better, TV manuf can develop an emo teen filter, that substitutes a house plant for them.

Seriously, nothing kills a show quicker for me than having to watch a teenager act out on a show. It's bad enough when writers create stupid situations (Scorpion et al), forcing us to swallow if we want to keep watching, but throw in a teen, and it elevates the "painful to watch" factor by 10X. It doesn't have to be that way, I'm sure there are some series where a teen is tolerable, or even enjoyable. Probably because they're written as an adult .

I've had three teenagers (one current one) and I can tell you, that's not unrealistic. I think they are just trying to write teens being teens. I don't actually know how they haven't killed themselves by now, not having a cellphone surgically attached to their body like most teens do these days :)

Thanks for the explanation on the initials. Having never seen The Walking Dead, I never would have guess them.
