I finally got around to watching this and I was very disappointed at the end.

Why did the writers have to give Trip a black fiancée? Can't he have felt as strongly without a personal reason to go against his former client?

    Long...
It had to be a deeply heartfelt reason, and I think that conveyed how important it was to him personally to have violated confidentiality like that. It didn't seem wrong or gratuitous that way to me.

Well if the point was that he wouldn't have revealed the location if his fiancee's skin color were different, that doesn't say much about the lawyer. Saving a man's life should have been enough of a reason, regardless of his skin color or his fiancee's. Was the point that if the killers were just psychopaths not motivated by race, then the victim's life would not have been worth violating privilege in order to save?
