For the third time I have successfully cloned my TIVO 2Tb disk using the WeME MST-006 USB 3.0 to SATA 6GB Dual Bays HDD docking station with Clone capability ($30 on Amazon). I keep a spare cloned disk as my backup. Use the docking station as a standalone (do not connect it to your computer). Insert the Tivo disk into slot A and the new blank disk into slot B. Turn on the power and follow the cloning instructions. It normally takes a few hours to complete depending on the amount of programs that have been recorded. The new disks does not need to be formatted for this process. For the cost of a disk (about $74), I do not have to mess with backups or formatting. You can clone from a smaller disk to a larger one but you will need to extend the partition after the cloning process has completed which is something that is easy but I stay away from as I keep it simple as possible.
