I am getting more than a little tired of the flashbacks. I'm always much more satisfied by a linear story telling; after all, that's how I live my life. Sure, I can appreciate the history in a flashback to fill in the blanks. But much of the early going in these scenes creates a jumble, a mish-mash of scenes that left me wondering at times: is this past? or present? I suspect that production staff did it that way to give the series a bit of an "arty" feel, in an attempt to make the series seem deeper and more meaningful.

But it's not, folks. It has a good looking cast, and they have super powers. Start being super, and stop being moody and confusing.

I'm still watching this but am not entirely sure why. Maybe something interesting will happen in this season's final three episodes.

Binged them on Hulu today and glad I did. I may have given up if I’d watched weekly. Way too slow and moody for me.

Yup. Superheroes should be superheroing by now. But I'll stick around.

Part of my annoyance with this is the incessant flashbacks. Sometimes it becomes difficult to know which time line I am looking at. I hated all the flashbacks on Arrow, too. Tip to writers and directors: flashbacks are best used in moderation.

I think it has gotten pretty good the last few episodes (I haven't watched the latest, 7/19). I especially liked the 7/12 episode when Tandy and Ty enter the guy's mind, and their powers are being used full tilt. Ty blinking in and out during fights to avoid blows, get behind an opponent, etc, and Tandy flinging light daggers left and right taking out tons of baddies.

The latest was kind of oddly structured...a lot happened, and it felt like a) the show had finally come together, and b) it was a season finalé...until the end, when suddenly there was more to come.

Tandy's light daggers are interesting; though, candidly, I could watch Tandy (Olivia Holt) do practically ANYTHING and be captivated.

This was a weird show for me. It was a season long origin story that took waaaaay too long to get to the point of being interesting. I'd watch an episode and there'd be a plot point in it that made me think that I must have dozed off during a previous episode because I couldn't remember the details around that plot point. This happened multiple times, even in the season finale. I'll give the season 2.5 stars out of 5 but I'll keep the season pass for next year. Now that they've got the origin story out of the way, things should (hopefully) get more interesting next season as they do stuff instead of learning what they can do. Maybe they can get better story writers too.

I liked it more than you did, but agree that there were some structural...oddities. I think it probably would have worked much better as a Netflix-type binge show, with all episodes being released simultaneously so you could just blow through them. It almost felt as though it were paced for that kind of release...

I tend to dislike origin stories because they take too long until the heroes become heroic. This show took the whole season.

The fact that they took an entire episode to talk about how heros become heroic didn't help either.

Now I begin to get a feel for how slowly glaciers moved across North America eons ago. Next season they damn well better pick up the pace. Olivia Holt has a pretty face and all, but the tempo of this thing is maddening.
