My local station has been playing "Classic Simpsons" episodes, starting with seasons 1 and 10. It is also supposed to be appearing on FXX. I've been enjoying watching with my kids, and my son was amazed that the logo at the end said "20th Century Fox"!

I was reading that The Simpsons had a really weird syndication deal in which FOX Affiliates had first rights to episodes. It was given to them back when FOX was still trying to find stations to air the network. Each station could only air an episode a certain number of times and most stations have now hit that limit after airing some of them for 20+ years. This has finally allowed the show to be sold into cable syndication.

Yeah, I wasn't sure of the exact details, but I remember various other shows over the years had these kinds of broken-into-groups syndication deals.. Sometimes B&W episodes in one deal and color episodes in another, for shows that straddled that line.
