CBS Sunday Morning today had a bunch of retrospectives (some on the past decade), including a tribute to people who passed away this past year. It really was beautiful--not an "Academy Awards"-like song segment, but a mini-documentary ("2019 Hail and Farewell") with some depth (as much as something with as broad a subject matter as this could have), that lasted 21 minutes without any commercials.

Recommended, if you have it recorded. Well done, CBS Sunday Morning. :clapping:

I think I switched to the show right as they started the "tribute" (7:50 -8:10 AM) It was really well done as it just flowed so well.

Sunday Morning has been doing "Hail and Farewell" for decades.

It use to be the whole last show of the year. They now just do a segment.

At least it was a long segment--essentially, a half-hour of TV time (21+ minutes of continuous content).

As long as I can remember, it's always been a segment, a very long segment, but just a segment. FYI, I occasionally fill in as a video tape editor on Sunday Morning and often on the last show of the year when others want off. I don't ever remember it being the entire show.

Most of them from the 2010s are up on YT (not from the show's official account). Agreed that I'm always impressed with the writing.
