I have not used my TiVo since I had AT&T U-verse installed several months ago. Set it up Friday night to a non-DVR set top box (Motorola 1200). The TiVo took a while to update, and then I entered the magic channel changing IR code of 10081B, tinkered with the positioning of IR blasters, and then everything was hunky-dory. I could see live TV, the IR blaster was changing channels just fine, etc.

Only problem was that TiVo still had the channel setup for the AT&T Dish Network I had months before. So, I went to the channels section to set up my new lineup. TiVo connected to the server and took forever to update since it had been not used for so long. Woke up Saturday morning, and TiVo walked me through choosing my U-verse channels - looked promising. BUT - I noticed as I was verifying channel setup that I could no longer see live TV through TiVo at all - just a black screen!

No settings, channels, or connections changed on the TV or U-verse STB overnight - the only thing that happened was that my TiVo box updated itself - now NO VIDEO. What gives? The troubleshooter just says check connections. U-verse box is still working great on its own. Please help! So close, but yet, so far......!

Did you tell the TiVo what type of inputs it should be looking at?

yes, i did, twice... Tried once with the yellow, white, and red video inputs... Tivo sensed the video signal but screen it showed in the background was still black. Tried again using the S video connection- same result. And again, it was working before i ran the tivo update! Mysterious.

    Wait a second...

Are you saying that there was no video at the point where it asks "Do you see video"?

If this is what you're talking about, MANY others have reported this gliltch.

What they've done is LIE to the TiVo and say "Yes....I see video" and proceed with Guided Setup.

Things end up working out fine.

One other thing you might want to try-
Feed the AT & T box directly into the TV, and see what happens.

If the "Lie to the TiVo" suggestion didn't help, maybe the outputs on the AT&T box are bad? Seeing if the TV can get anything from the box will clarify things a little more.

tried lying to the TiVo just to proceed - still can't see live tv at the end of the setup. U-verse connection directly to the tv is working great. Any other ideas? About to fire my tivo...
