can't kill demo mode on Roamio Plus

    Hi,
    I recently picked up a refurbished Roamio Plus. It upgraded to the latest firmware, but seems to have been in retail demo mode at some point. With each restart, it briefly starts the Tivo-through-the-decades video, but never completes -- about 5 or 10 seconds into the black-and-white portion of the startup, it immediately jumps to the demo mode "Introducing Roamio" video loop.

    The odd thing is that I could complete the guided setup and it did download the guide and is recording programs according to the One Pass list, but there are still vestiges of demo mode. For instance, after 15 min. of inactivity on the remote control, it switches back to the Introducing Roamio video. I can return to what I was viewing with the Live TV button, but the inactivity timeout keeps triggering the demo video if I don't touch the remote for 15 min. I gather that on a normal power-on restart, the Roamio is supposed to put up an "Exit demo mode?" dialog, but this unit never does that -- just starts to play the startup video, only to jump immediately into demo mode. Does anyone know a different way to cancel demo mode for good? Now that I have over a week of recordings, it would be great if I could find some way to exit demo mode without having to wipe the hard drive of recorded shows.

    I know the latest software update has the bug where the Tivo intro video stops after a few seconds. I'm wondering if that bug is causing your unit to never get to the "Exit demo mode" question?

    I've tried both, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Removing and reapplying power takes longer than restarting, but either way the startup video begins, but it quickly jumps (after maybe 5 seconds) to the Introducing Roamio demo. There's no dialog or menu to exit demo mode, unfortunately. :(

    I can't tell if you can get to the Settings screen or not (TiVo Central --> Settings & Messages --> Account & System Info --> System Info).

    If you can, what do you see for:
    *TiVo Service Account Status
    *Tivo Service Level

    You might need to call into Tech Support and have them forcibly update that information for you (assuming the box is provisioned wrong). Hopefully after they do that and the TiVo phones home you'll be out of demo mode.

    Did you ever figure it out. I have same issue

    Pulling power cord for 15 secs didn't do it

    got tired of messing around. re-ran guided setup. kept all my recordings and one passes
