Anyone know how I do this? The TiVo app isn't in the kindle app store, but they clearly list the TiVo app as compatible with the fire...

I saw a post on twitter where Margret says they are working with Amazon to get it on their app store.

It's not urgent, and I don't feel like sideloading... i guess i'll just wait.

it really couldn't be easier to do--takes about 10 seconds although it won't look like anything happened. enter that apk url from your fire using the web browser and then pay attention to the alerts in the top left. of course you will have to have that 'allow nefarious apps to pollute your kindle fire' setting toggled.

Amazon's app store requires an approval process. That is why it didn't come out at the same time as the Android Market. Hopefully it will be approved sometime this coming week.

I was able to sideload and get it working just fine. That's the good news.

The bad news is, like most android apps, it's slow and laggy. Scrolling is abysmal, and once it scrolls, the shows in the guide take a long time to populate. Contrast that to our iPhone 4 where it is buttery smooth...

So for those with high hopes, meh.

the fire is definitely 'slow and laggy', i'm sure you didn't mean that android apps in general are that way. the much-heralded 'silk' web browser on the fire reminds me of the good old 300baud modem days.

I do think android apps are somewhat laggy, but things are much improved w/ ICS + newer hardware. The silk browser is a real bummer. That's why I got the device!!!! It's terrible!

I'm going to hang onto my Kindle Fire for another month or so and see if they update the software to fix this thing up... otherwise, ebay isn't too far away...

i have an ipad if i need web browsing. but it is too large and heavy for casual reading. the fire is fine for what it is at the price.
