One of my Tivos can't process the update. I'm sure the hard drive is bad and will need to be replaced. We're not ready to replace either the drive or the Tivo yet.

The Tivo boots itself every night trying to install 9.1, which it can't do, plus it gives us the animation screen most times when we try to use it the first time after it has tried to update.

Is there any way we can get Tivo to take back this update and not send us another one until we're able to take care of our problem?

As mick notes, no it can't "take anything back". However you might want to give a couple of things a try before replacing the hard drive. Click here for more info.

Before giving up you might also want to call TiVo Customer Support and see what they suggest...yours isn't the first to have this problem.

Others may have some advice as well.

You could disconnect it from the network/phone. It'll remove other features, of course, and it'll only be good for 2 weeks before you run out of guide data, but it'll give you a break... then act quickly.

The update has already been downloaded and her Tivo will continue trying to install it every night at 2:00am whether the tivo can make a connection to the mothership or not.

not that i want to try and get this somewhat buggy 9.1 but, i just bought my tivo and it came with 8.2xxxxxx and has connected everyday since and no update has happened. is this a blessing and i should not question it? maybe its because my tivo is not active? on temp status. having issues getting it activated for some reason. working on 11 days of trying to activate.

    Ontario Canada.
Right now, they are only distributing to active customers (likely including TiVo Basic users of PionTosh DVD combos). Given time, inactive DVRs will get 9.1 as a matter of course, if it stays around (IE, not recalled).

Thanks much for the kickstart instructions. I just sent them to my husband to try.

I suspected there wasn't a way to get rid of the update, but was just checking :)

That's not true. I put my unsubbed for nearly a year 540 on the priority list, and it now has 9.1 - of course this was right when they put up the priority list.

Thanks, but neither kickstart worked :(.

I guess we'll just wait. It still works just fine, it just can't process the update.
