Sorry If I have missed information on this already posted, but I don't recall seeing it. The basic question is simple - After TiVo announced no new S3 activations, is it still possible to transfer a currently active S3 with Lifetime service to a different user? I have a friend who just went to OTA, and while I cannot recommend any new TiVo purchase for him under current Bad Rovi, I think a cheap used S3 might be a great way to get him a DVR. But it occurs to me that the transfer process requires a current owner to call in and deactivate the box while getting a "transfer" number to give to the buyer. So has anybody done this since TiVo announced they would not activate any S3 boxes in the future, or is the buyer dead in the water as soon as the current owner starts the transfer process?
