I plan on getting a Series 3 before the end of December so I can transfer a Series 1 Lifetime. At present I do not have HDTV, and would like to know if I can still record 2 different programs at once using RF signal?

Also if I just record non-HD will I be able to transfer those shows to a Series 2 TiVo?

Yes, you can record 2 analog signals at once (or even 2 OTA digital signals) without cablecards or an HDTV. But make sure you have at least a composite connection or better on your TV: the S3 does not have an RF out connection.

At the moment you can't transfer shows off the S3 at all; my guess is you'll be able to transfer S2 shows to the S3 after a few months, and maybe some shows, but not all, from an S3 to an S2 eventually.

Further clarification -- this INCLUDES digital channels unencrypted on cable.

Madgeek, I use my S3 without cablecards and record dual shows both analogue from cable and digital (including HD) from OTA every day. It works great!
