I'm going to make the jump to HD and don't want to drop Tivo for DTV's version.

    These boxes still available?

Not only are they still available, they just announced an update to the OS to make them equivalent to the non-HD series 2 boxes. Jump to the next forum down (HD Tivo Powered PVRs) for more info on the HR10-250.

If you want to record your locals in HD with the Tivo, make sure you Call D* and ask them if your locals are in Mpeg4 yet. The HR10-250 can't see, or record, Mpeg4.

If you can get High Definiton locals from your local stations with an antenna then you are all set with the HR10-250.

Not all locals are high definition. If you can get digital OTA locals then you are set.

Last week, I called the 800-824-9081 number for customer retention. I got it from another forum here. I told them that I had read on the Internet about a free HR10-250 with a two year committment. He eventually told me that I'd have to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket to get it. The NFLST deal was $225.00, and I paid $20.00 for shipping and handling. The $399.00 TiVo was FREE.

Make sure you get the SuperFan pack for free too! If he made you buy ST to get a free HD-DVR, you'll need the SuperFan package to see any of the games in HD anyway. That might save you another 99 bucks.

Do you recall how much they were? (I'm on vacation and can't stop by the local Costco...)

    Thanks!

Tivo Logo and everything on the box. I didn't look at the price but you can call the store at 714 282-6657 and they'll be able to tell you how many they have and how much they are. they were in blackish boxes and were stacked right next to the white R-15 boxes.

You might try getting the HD TiVo DVR from D* free by trying the retention dept. Some have gotten it without subbing to the Sunday Ticket and some report getting it along with the NFLSt and then cancelling it .
