See, cablevision of monmouth (monmouth county, nj) can send techs out on the weekend, and sent out tech with 6 cards. Granted it was a few months ago and a standard S3 install (was a reinstall since tivo swapped out a dead tivo unit)

try insisting for a saturday appointment to avoid missing work again...

Frostrambler: FYI, Cablevision Bronx installed two CableCARDS in my TivoHD on Mon, Tue, Wed last week (3 days of tech visits to get the required two working cards).

I second the suggestion that you head over to the "Yahoo cablevision_digital" message board and send a private message to a knowledgable and helpful CV employee named Wilt H.

    long...
i have never had a successful cablevision (LI) phone call. the technicians seem to be ok, but the phone support (at least the level 1 people) are worthless.

I can confirm that my install went smoothly with Cablevision of Long Island. They use NDS cards. Both were good and installation was completed in about 1 hour. The tech was great and followed the instructions I left for him.

I am very pleased with the operation of my TiVo HD. I see only very sporadic pixelation. Very very watchable. Incidentally, when there were no cable cards installed I had no pixelation at all. So I think it has to be an issue with the software and cable cards.

My advice for anyone getting an install is to be nice to the tech and explain that you have done a lot of research and they must install one card, authorize it, test it and then install the other card.

    Good Luck to all

Thank you, actually I just got in contact with Wilt H on the broadband reports forum. Also local cablevision no longer wants to deal with me, apparently my complaints to the BBB have gone noticed, and I am supposed to be called by corporate tomorrow.

Wow, I did not know that Wilt H was this guy: http://www.cablevision.com/about/leadership/wilt_hildenbrand.jsp

In the email I sent him, I was pretty short, but not unfriendly, I thought he was another tech and after dealing with them for two weeks, I did not expect much.

Hopefully thanks to him this can be resolved soon.

Yeah, he is one of the top guys over there and really cool. Has helped me out in the past and cut through the red tape. I hope I don't need to deal with all this issues, but I have two more days until my appt to install the cable cards in my HD.

Well Corporate just called me and told me the same thing, they are still having the issue in Brooklyn, but not Bronx or anywhere else, just Brooklyn. So they can't install any cablecards until its fixed.

I will wait a few more days, and then most likely start with a second round of contacting the BBB, the Department of IT and Cable, heck contact the FCC too, I doubt that will do much good but why not? I understand they may have a problem, but its been 1.5 weeks since that problem started, and if they still have not fixed it, then I don't care, either fix it now or I just have to continue until someone helps me. Verizon Fios still isn't in my area, but I am beginning to wish it was.

Hey just got the 20hour Tivo HD, I have an appointment for this sat, I am in Brooklyn also (Brighton Beach) from reading everyones posts it looks like I'm gonna have a problem as well. Is there anything I can do to better prepare for this? Or am I at the mercy of one of the cheesiest digital cable providers in the country?

BLAZN420, I am literally 20 minutes away from you by foot, in Sheepshead Bay. Neck road station on the Q/B line.

As of today Cablevision has told me they are not installing ANY cablecards in brooklyn due to issues on their backend. So unless they fix it, you won't have anyone come on Saturday, they will just call you and tell you they have to postpone the appointment.

But if they do come and install those cards, PLEASE PLEASE post that here. I will then have proof that cablevision is installing cablecards in Brooklyn, and that means that three different techs, dispatch supervisors and field supervisors have lied to me.

I'll tell you this, when I first called they told me they dont support TIVO and after about 10 minutes of insisting and asking to speak to a supervisor they forwarded my call to some other dept. The woman I spoke to at that point knew exactly what I was trying to do and told me the guy would come sat. But I wouldnt be surprised if they postpone my appointment, I've had trouble with my setup from the start especially the boost service for broadband, and they replaced my 8300HD twice. No worries though I got my TIVO for free cause the security guy at bestbuy didnt check my receipt the first time around. But I will be back and let you all know how things turned out on SAT.

And another week has just passed with no cablecards installed by Cablevision.

16 days since I called them to set it up, 12 days since the first time they tried.

2+ weeks and waiting cablevision... 2+ weeks.

Ok had an appointment for today 2-5 I have the new Tivo HD that came out not the original series 3. Cablevision guy came at 1:45pm installed 2 scientific atlanta cards, the cards detected on the TIVO right away, firmware update was requred for each card that finished in about 30 minutes, he then called dispatch and had the cards activated. All went smooth he had to replace a wire outside cause i was getting static on some of my HD channels but after that was done. I was good to go. Up and running in like 1 hour 45 minutes. As far as the installer told me, they had issues for a few weeks but now everyone is running good. So if you have appointments confirm them, if not make new ones cause the cards are working in Brooklyn, NY. Any questions please ask. Most of the time spent was waiting for dispatch to activate cards.
