Cable card problem? Maybe

    In South Florida w/Comcast cablecard. I have two Tivo's, both HD. The newer one about once a week or two comes up with a black screen and the message
    HDMI connection not permitted
    and I cannot receive any channels.
    I restart the Tivo box, once, twice or three times until I finally get the connection to work. the older HDTV Tivo box has no problems. Comcast already changed the cablecard once.
    Anyone have any ideas what is going on???

    No, but a CableCARD has absolutely nothing to do with an HDMI connection.

    You might try a new HDMI cable or, if you are running through an A/V receiver, running the cable direct to the TV. Can also try turning the TV off/on to force a video resynch.

    When you are using a HDMI connection and another to a different TV, you can get that error when you turn off the HDMI connected TV. One thing to try is to use a secondary HDMI of the TV if there is one.
