Maybe I'm gonna make myself look silly here ?

Did anyone watch this, I'm too dumb to spot an existing thread and search didn't reveal one.

I have it recorded but didn't wanna waste the time without opinions.

I actually liked it...it was really pretty in HD, too!

I liked it so much I'm looking to record it again (since I deleted it...ugh).

I just got around to watching it today. Loved it! I kept pausing to look up things like Charles Eastman and Wounded Knee and all sorts of other stuff I'd always heard of but never really knew much about. I, too, am going to record it again for another viewing.

From what I read, the movie on HBO departed from the book greatly. Basically, HBO purchased the rights to the book just so they could use the name. The movie wasn't really based on the book. Nowhere in the book does Charles Eastman show up.

Newsweek wrote an article on it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18853794/site/newsweek/

Still...the movie had an effect on me and I'll likely now read the book.

C'mon, you really have to get someone else's opinion before you can watch something. Sad, truly sad.

Pretty moving, but then it's based on very moving events.

Contrast this story with Deadwood, as that area (the Black Hills) is the one under contention in both stories.

If you liked this show you might like to read Cheyenne Autumn by Mari Sandoz. It was also made into a movie by John Ford.

Very interesting, because yes I do like to read reviews and hear other people's opinions before choosing to spend my 2 hours watching something instead of something else. I shall consider myself very sad from this point on ;)

Thanks for the feedback, now all I need is a good two hours and I'll watch it.

Almost as sad as some fool wasting 2 hours of his time on some crap that he could have easily avoided had he just listened to a few forons. Just think how many starving kids in africa you could save if you spent 2 hours a day at a part time job and donated it to charity!

See when I read "foron" I kind of thought I knew what it meant. It sounded like an endearing term for a forum-moron. A friendly description of the forum users :)

It was good -- beyond just the overall theme, there were some similar characters in "Into the West" miniseries which I thought was better. But both were good.
