Do actors get a stipend when this type of thing happens?

I believe actors are paid per episode that they actually make (i.e. not per year), but if the contracts are renewed, which prevents them from working elsewhere, it seems like they need some source of income. (BTW, I realize this was different in the old studio system days -- I believe they WERE paid a wage then, though possibly also per movie.)

They can still take other jobs. For the most obvious example, Odette Annable took a job on House in the meantime. However, Breaking In would have priority for them, meaning when filming began, they were required to more or less drop whatever else they were doing.

Brett Harrison was on a few shows since the last airing of Breaking In. Fringe perhaps?

Megan Mullaly is about as annoying as the Nanny lady to me. I just don't see how they think adding her can help.

I fear this show may suffer the same fate as Human Target when they decided they needed to bring in a female boss for that show too.

Or the same fate as Party Down when they felt the need to bring in Megan Mullaly for the second (and final) season.

I tend to think a 3rd season was still somewhat possible until Adam Scott got the Parks & Rec job. (Even though it was apparently the lowest rated comedy in the history of television.)

I thought Megan Mullaly was pretty funny on Childrens Hospital. I will hold judgement until after I see what she does on this show.

You can't really compare the ratings of Party Down (on a very obscure pay-cable channel) with the ratings of anything else ever shown. I'd guess that even if every single subscriber to Starz watched Party Down on a weekly basis, the ratings still wouldn't come close to comedies on basic cable and especially on broadcast networks.

This comes back tonight. I'm only watching it for Slater cuz I'd watch him watch paint dry. Otherwise, the addition of MM and subtraction of Dutch has me less than enthused about it.

Not bad. And Megan was pretty good.

    But I miss Dutch!

Glad Dutch is gone. I particularly liked the opening scene with "Mr. Fox".

To me, it was good DESPITE Megan. I thought she was awful and annoying. But to me what makes the show is the interplay between Slater's character and his minions. And that was still spot on.

Aside from the opening I thought it was an atrocious episode. Hopefully it was just a necessary setup episode for the cast change-up. Hate we are losing the Odette Annable.

I really hope the Megan Mulally characters fits in well. I LOVE her and the fact that she is married to Ron Swanson just makes me love her even more. She and Nick Offerman were on some type of interview show on IFC/Sundance a few months ago. Perhaps someone here remembers the name of it. If you ever run across it you must watch it.

I thought it was awful because of Megan. And they need Dutch back. I hope that it finds something again soon, but this episode was a major fail for me.
