Fantastic episode. That fight was intense.

I can't believe Skylar would think that acting like a blonde bimbo would get Ted off the hook with the IRS. Must have really hit home for her when she saw him get in the Geo Metro.

I still don't understand why Walt thinks killing Gus will solve all his problems.

I dunno.. it doesn't seem that far fetched that if the investigator believes the errors are due to incompetence AND the tax bill gets paid (including penalties, of course) the investigation would be dropped.

So now that Skylar basically has Ted by the balls, is there some way she can use his business to launder some of the extra cash (the IRS guy made it a point to say that Ted's business was relatively large "You managed a business this size with Quicken").

That's how many think it will play out. She has as much interest in paying off the IRS as he does. As she said, if he doesn't pay they will reopen the investigation and her name is all over the books.

I don't see how. They would need some method to pass the cleaned money to the Whites. The only ways I can think of are risky: either having the Whites become part owners or very-high paid employees.

The cleaned money would go to Ted. Not to the Whites, they are the source of the money, or am I missing something (entirely possible).

The problem is if Ted all of a sudden has the cash to pay off the IRS you can bet the IRS will want to know where he got it. The White's can't possibly come up with a story about investing in Ted's business or something like that. Look what they had to go through with the car wash.

But wasn't Skylar basically saying "oops - the money was there all along, I'm just so ditzy I didn't think I had to report it"?

Yes, you are missing the post I was replying to. The suggestion was that Ted's business could be used to launder the Whites' drug money. I replied that I do not see how that is possible.

Yes, that is the message she was trying to send. So now Ted has to come up with the money. I suppose Skylar could give him $700K in $50 bills, but that would look suspicious.

Good thing Hank didnt show up at the chicken coop when the sniper was taking pot shots. That would have been a pretty big tip off something was up. :D

I wonder if he'll notice a bullet hole, or a bullet on the ground, or something like that.

You don't think saying some kids have been doing "target practice" would work?

I think Hank is on a Mission now and would view an explanation like that (or any explanation) with great suspicion and would not be deterred. I don't know much about guns and rifles, but I also suspect that the bullets used in the sniper's rifle probably aren't the type that would be used by kids out messing around.

That was my interpretation as well. They weren't getting off the hook for the bad books, just committing fraud. They were still liable for all the penalties because of the bad books, but at least nobody was going to jail or being further scrutinized over it.

I wonder if Saul knows a way that Skylar can buy Ted's company anonymously.

Another thing I'm wondering is if Jessie's poison might come into play when he goes down to visit the cartel. It would be funny if Jessie rises quickly in power with the cartel, and both Gus and Walt ended up having to work for him.

Jessie as the "Kingpin" would make for an interesting final season :)

We should understand that Skyler very much is on the hook for Ted's tax problems, even financially. There are stories about mere clerks who faced bankruptcy just because they signed the tax forms for a sleazy businessman who disappeared. Skyler says her signatures are all over Benake's returns.

Being that he's broke, Ted can make an offer in compromise to pay 10 cents on the dollar. Better call Saul.

We know that Skyler is going into the cash stash to help out Ted. The question is if she's going to tell Walt.

I doubt it. She cheated on Walt with Ted to piss Walter off. Telling Walter that Ted and his problems might be their downfall would only infuriate Walter, and make her life horrible. Besides off'ing Ted what can Walter really do to help the situation? Skylar has access to enough money so if it came down to it she could pay for it to go away and I doubt Walter would notice.
