I have a 1TB Premier XL but would like to purchase a Bolt while the price is low. Can they be operated together? I would assume no, and that I should give my Premier XL to a family member. Is that accurate?

Yes, they share recordings connected to your network.

Of course they can be "operated together" what reason do you think they can't?
I've got 2 Roamio's and a Premiere in my media center, they place together just fine :)

Thanks for that question. I hope to get the Bolt before May 2nd, also, and have a Premiere XL I'd like to move to the bedroom (Bolt in living room). It has a COX Cablecard (I think M), which I'd leave in it for a while. What Cablecard works with the Bolt? M or another? Any thoughts appreciated.

there's only one model of CableCARD they give out at this point in time and it's the m, you'll be fine, just get another from COX.

To have two or more TiVo in the same room, you just need to assign different 'remote address' for each of them.

Easier path: block the front of the Roamio or Bolt. Then have it use rf mode. That assumes your rf remote doesn't go ir when it gets bored. Mine does.

Thanks. These are in different rooms, though not that far apart. I hope Remotes won't become an issue.

A related question: Is it possible, like NetFlix, to have different accounts on each DVR/TiVo, so we can each have our own One Pass list and recordings?

I know that TiVo lets me "name" my boxes on their site, so maybe that is how they let us have different --not combined-- One Pass lists. Not sure, any advice appreciated.

    Best,

The 1P and recordings do not combine. Programs can be shared over the network.

RF and IR remotes have different layouts. Good luck with that.

Also you authenticate each TiVo individually for services like netlfix et al, so you can mix and match for each box.

Netflix lets you personalize for each person. Check into your account using a PC.
