It's been on my TiVo for awhile but I've had no time to watch yet. I'm no BMW fan but it looks like it was insightful and interesting. It'll be rerun at least 2x in the next 2 weeks.

I watched it. It was ok, but nowhere near the top of my list.

I appreciated seeing some of the delivery process at the Welt. I think that would be fun to do some day.

I did not know that the designer responsible for the "Bangle Butt" on the E65 7-Series is now BMW's head of design. To create such a controversial, unique style and then have the team follow it up with the recent (IMO) bland sedans is surprising to me. Even as a BMW fan I find it rather hard to discern the current 5-Series from the current 7-Series when they're coming down the road. I'm a bit afraid to see what the 3-Series turns into later this year.

Chris Bangle was moved to head of design to keep him from directly getting his hands on anything. He recently quit BMW.

I've had this on the PVR for weeks, and just got around to watching it yesterday. Interesting show. I've always liked BMW cars, but never got around to owning one.

The bit about managing the customer experience during factory pickups made them seem to be somewhat manipulative and cynical, though. But probably no more so than any other manufacturer.

Watched it on Youtube - quite interesting.

Curiosity question: If you take delivery of your BMW in Europe, how do you get it back to the US?

The European Delivery experience includes shipment of the vehicle back to the states. There are dropoff points across Europe. You give the car a wash (recommended) and then drive it to one of the dropoff offices. They (eventually) transport it by truck to the port to catch a ship. After that it's transported to your dealer like any other new BMW.

Here is a good source of info on BMW's European Delivery program: http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php?title=BMW_European_Delivery

As soon as I have enough cash to burn (which means buying a new car instead of usedpre-owned), I'm totally doing BMW European Delivery. (Between my g/f and me, we've owned 4 BMWs so far and love the brand).

Just bought my 10th and 11th BMWs this month--a 2013 550i and a 2013 x5 5.0. I've never done ED, but one of these days...
