    It's so meta!

Actors playing themselves. But pseudo fictional, pseudo real versions.

I'm afraid, a bit too cute for me, playing off of and reveling in Tori, et al.'s real lives, which really don't interest me (quite to the contrary--and I'm really not into self-celebration and narcissism).

So should we start a meta thread for the show-within-a-show?

It was ok. Although as someone who lives in the Las Vegas area, I hate it when shows have scenes that supposedly take place in Vegas but are obviously shot in or near Hollywood.

I thought it was entertaining. Shannen is in the opening so hopefully she will show up 'live' and not just with the others seeing her in videos. And I hope more of the original cast make appearances.

So in this thread, do we comment as heightened fictional versions of ourselves
then comment on our comments in the meta thread?
Or it the other way around?

(Am I really this nit-picky, or is this a exaggerated version of me?)

As someone who lives around Los Angeles, I don't like it when shows that are supposedly shot in Hollywood doubling as another city are really shot in Vancouver/Canada.

According to the "rules", you should spoiler tag your comment.

Just remember: your husband or wife, and your kids, are not really them.

Or they are only partially them :)

Like, if you have 4 kids, then your heightened self has 3.. And maybe your heightened self is a grandfather

Bummer to be that 4th kid--or maybe it's a good thing.

I wish they had taken the whole thing further and made it more absurd.
Something about them playing themselves but their personal lives are fictionalized is really off to me.

It may be simpler (and cheaper?) this way. They don't need to pay the spouses or their children, who may not even want to act, or be able to act. And this way they can make up things like affairs, divorces, etc. without it being done to their actual spouses. And at least one of them is married to a pretty famous actress (I can't remember her name though), and could have cost a lot to get her on the show, and her schedule may not allow it even if she wanted to do it on the cheap.

Are they gonna start each episode with a dream sequence flashback? I hope so, because they are kinda fun.

Now that I’ve gotten over the fact that their families have different names and everything, I’m really enjoying this.

I think it's funny and fun to see the cast again.
They(or at least the writers) have a good sense of humor about themselves, and also kind of funny to see this is what they(or at least the writers) think the fans expect of the actors or fan fiction versions of themselves.

Still plays mind games with me... "Nooo J.G.! Don't bail on your BFF T.S.! Wait. Jennie and Tori are exec producers and this is playing. Obviously she's in. But wait again. J.G. almost bailed on T.S.'s 90210 reboot where (I think) J.G. would be playing Kelly, and this isn't said reboot because Jennie is playing J.G. not Kelly..."
though sometimes I just think more simply,
    "My god, Jennie/J.G. is pretty."

I wonder if they'll get Tiffani Thiessen to guest.

Yeah. At first I didn't dig the idea it was going tombe a "reality" show. But now that it is out, I am liking this pseudo reality show fictional drama.
