Maggie and I are looking to get her parents a regular, single tuner 40-80 hour series 2.

we are already giving them a dual tuner 80 hour and just want a single tuner 40-80 series 2.

Are there any rebates going on for these? (DT has $150 rebate)

how cheap can you get one? Looking for close to free since it's the single tuner one.

    Thanks

the ST S2 has the same $150 rebate. Most places do not sell the 40 hr and the 80 hr looks like $49.99 A/R at Amazon. The Rebate ends on Sat, but I am sure another one will be out soon as well as possibly better deals for the 80 hr, but no gurantee. Otherway to go is order direct from Tivo but then you don't qualify for MSD so that doesn't help much.

i'm going to best buy during lunch, and have one of those 12% off coupons I am going to use, so hopefully they have some ST ones in stock.

WorstBuy, I mean Best Buy has the 80 HR for 219.99. With your coupon that is a tad cheaper then Amazon but then tax will probably hike it up a little more. Why not just spring a little extra and get the DT. It is just $30 more.

Also order online and do the in store pick up. That way you know if they have it and if so it will be waiting for you.

it says on amazon you have to purchase by 9/16!!! so that wouldn't work.

THey just have not updated the page with the new rebate. http://www.tivorebates.com/promocenter/tivo/web_entered_rebate.html?campaignCode=06-54261

Also since the TCStore is still doing the sale you can order from them, get free group shipping, pay tax (this is in my case) and get the 80 HR ST for $177.34 before rebate. That is actually the best deal for the 80 HR that I know of.

Okay, duh here again. If I purchase from TCStore, where does the rebate come from and how do I get the rebate coupon to fill out and send in (to where?) TKS!

WHAT? The TCF store has the LOWEST PRICE? :D

I wonder how many of the people who complained about there prices will chime in on this thread?

Seriously though, support the TCS (or any vendor) who has the merchandise, prices, services and shipping/return policies that fit your needs. Do you realize how hard it is to PLEASE EVERYBODY?

That is an excercise in futility. For every person who loves Fry's, Circuit City, Best Buy, FYE, etc, there are many who have had that "1" experience that sticks in their mind forever.

And "always" having the lowest price is difficult. Have you ever noticed that a store with a price match or "lowest price" guarantee DOESN'T lower their price even after several customers come in with ads from the competition? :D It is totally up to the consumer to "find" the lowest price.

Yes. Tivo has for the most part that I can remembered issued another $150 rebate as soon as the other ends since at least early this year. I think they want to offer $150 all the time, but just need to change the dates in order to help processing (as the mail to address changes slightly to a new box).

    cool thanks

just got the dual tuner 80 hour from bestbuy w/ a 12% off coupon and used my best buy mastercard for another 4% back in rewards

    so

    after taxes - $231 - $150 rebate = $81
    add in the next 4% back - $220 - $150 rebate = $70

and I will do the single tuner through here for $15 :)

Nice gifts! Not sure if you are going to upgrade one or both, but if you do I would recommend connecting and recording some of the shows they like so when they get it then it already has shows they will want to see (granted they probably already watched them, but still nice). Even if you don't upgrade them you may want to have at least a few episodes just so you can demonstrate some features.
