    Hi,

I have a Romio Pro. I also have a Premiere XL that is pretty old and that I believe is starting to fail. At some point the Premiere will be gone.

I don't need the recording capacity of the Premiere. But I'd like to access as much as possible from the Romio in another room in the house. What would be the best option for doing this? Is it the TiVo Stream 4K? The Mini LUX? Would either of them also be able to access one of more of the live Live TV tuners from the Romio.

What is the impact of adding one of these devices to the Romio? Does the Romio have to give up any tuners to the extender? Does it surrender these tuners permanently or only when the extender wants to use them for live viewing?

Any and all advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!

My experience with a mini and Roamio Basic is that all recording are available on the mini. The mini can view live broadcast by using one tuner of the Roamio. So, the Roamio would have one less tuner with which to view or record programing. When using the mini to watch live broadcasts, always hit the tivo button when finished in order to release the tuner back to the Roamio for it's use.

The Tivo Stream 4K has no ability to view anything from another Tivo. It's just a generic streaming device like a Fire Stick, Chromecast, etc. Mini or another Premiere/Roamio/Edge/Bolt is your only option.

If you decide to go mini, I suggest you check ebay for one.

I recommend buying a second cheap Roamio Plus or Pro with Lifetime. I’ve found them for around $100 shipped or less if you are patient and watch ebay.

Then you can at least have them on same account, network them together, and use one as extra storage or backup. If you have another coax outlet in that other room then get a second cable card.
