My theory, spoilerized just in case...

The doctors (Baltar together with the MD) will extend her life but not cure her using stem cells from the Baby Boomer

Actually, I suspect that Roslin will find out about Gaius before she kicks the bucket. She's a smart cookie, and I wouldn't be surprised if she started to put the pieces together and realized that he's a Cylon conspirator.

If nothing else, she ought to easily come to the conclusion that Gaius is the one responsible for PegaSix getting free. And that alone will put them at odds with one another.

OTOH, PegaSix escaping played right into Roslin's grander scheme of things, so maybe she won't be too upset about that.

before pegasix got loose, i thought they should use her to do the chic captain in. because the doc is in love with her(six) and wants to help her. it would have made sense to let pegasix "die", especially since it would have covered any of his tracks. the whole dual purpose thing.

I think that Laura will end up getting a reprieve from death (probably in the next episode). But I think that ultimately she will still die. They might slow the cancer and extend her life, but she's not going to be "cured". The prophecy says that she'll die, the doctor says she'll die, so if she has a miracle cure a lot of viewers will be put off by it (myself included). I don't think the writers want that to happen.

And no way she's a cylon.

I also think they will just prolong her life. I just hope they don't cheat and let her flat line on the operating table trying some cure. Then they bring her back to life she is cured and technically died so it takes care of the profacy.

Won't she die when the writers need to explain Mary McDonnell's absence from the show and not one episode sooner? As long as there is money to pay her, and she is interested in taking it, I think she will live. Since they have mentioned a month, I think that indicates she will last the rest of this season, but not be back for the next one.

The prophecy presents no trouble at all, since if I remember correctly (though I try to forget about the prophecy because it is unexplained mystical gibberish and I doubt that will change) she will die before BG reaches Earth. But reaching Earth will never happen in the series, except as a remote possibility in the series finale.

    No, not at all.

She can be killed off simply as part of the story, having nothing to do with real life or business.

That does happen. (Lost, Alias, Sopranos, etc...)

That depends on whether you think Laura is in the same category as Tony Soprano and his family or not. I'll admit Adama is more important (could BG survive as a show without EJO ... I say no), but I think Laura isn't far behind. The series would survive, but I think it would suffer mightily.

I think she'll be cured. Based on the somewhat vague previews, I think....
they'll inject some sort of cells taken from Boomer's baby into her which will move through her body killing off the virus. I bet the Cylons have some sort of immune system that keeps them completely healthy and that Boomer's half human baby will make that immune system compatible and useable in humans.

I think she's too good an actress and too big a name to just kill her off...I remember how great the producer felt about pulling her and Adama (whatever his real name is) as the leads...

so I think she will survive for a while...

they could always redefine the term "dying"...aren't we all, in a sense, dying?

I think the cancer will go into remission.

I think they'll let her die, but not for a few more seasons. The only reason the probably had her sickness progress, instead of having the it being there but ignoring it, is they have a way to temporarily cure her.

I don't think I've ever heard of a cancer patient who's cancer went into remission when they were only given a month to live. It's not like she's got a cold. She's got terminal cancer. She can barely walk, she can barely get off the couch, she halleucinates.

I think we're far beyond remission at this point, unless you're talking about some sort of cure or miracle treatment.

Unfortunately, I think you may be correct. I would hate to see this happen because then the humans are just one step closer to being cylons/machines themselves. If you can't get sick you lose some of that vulnerability that comes with being human.
