Bad recording, but only on one channel?

First time poster here, and I'm hoping you all can help me out please. :) Every time I record something on CBS (channel 2) the quality is terrible - very snowy, and the colors are very saturated with heavy red tones. If I watch TV live on this particular channel, the quality is perfect. All of my other recordings on different channels are good.

I have a Tivo Premiere DVR, and just standard (non HD) cable service. I have unhooked the unit, changed all of the cables, and checked the quality settings on my Season Passes. I'm at my wits end. How can I fix this? Thanks.

edited to add: I'm a non-techno type, so please be gentle with me. Also, my previous Tivo (series 2 I think?) did the same exact thing. I thought something was wrong with the unit, which was my main reason for upgrading to a new unit.

This is most likely a signal problem. Ask the cable company come out to check your line. You mayvalso have a bad trap (a device the cable company may have put on the line) or bad a bad section of cable.

Hard to tell for sure without more info.

    Who's your cable company?

What are the call letters of that CBS affiliate?

How do you have your TiVo connected to the television? How did you have your previous TiVo connected to the television? Is it the same television set?

Did your previous TiVo have one tuner or two?

When you say it's good if you watch that channel live, do you mean tune the TiVo to that channel and sit there watching it in real time, or do you mean tuning the television itself to that channel and leaving the TiVo out of the equation entirely?

Thank you. I will definitely call the cable company.

Thanks for the reply. My cable company is Armstrong, which is a small provider that most people probably haven't heard of. :p The service has always been excellent though. The call letters of the CBS affiliate are KDKA, out of Pittsburgh.

I'm not exactly sure how the Tivo is connected to the TV set. I left that job up to my spouse. He said he hooked up the new one the same way. It's been unhooked and hooked up a few times, to check and see if something was wrong. It is the same TV set. The Tivo recording on this particular station was fine for the first couple of years, and suddenly went bad.

My previous Tivo only had one tuner. I had the same exact problem on it though. I thought it was a problem with the Tivo itself, which was part of my decision to buy a newer model.

I can watch the station live either through the Tivo (live), or without the Tivo. Either way, the picture is perfect. The problem only shows up on the recording.

Is your spouse still available to provide further information?

If so, ask if the TiVo is feeding the antenna input of the television or a line input.

The fact that you have the same problem on both TiVos pretty much rules them out as part of the problem.

If you pick up the original remote control for the television set and push the "2" button (or the zero and then the 2), what happens on screen?
