backing up to pc

    I think you missed our point that pytivo is no more diffecult to install than say MS Office. Oh so much work to obtain, install, update and then learn to use....way too much work for casual users.

    If the benefits and features of pytivo etc are not worth your time to install then fine. But don't complain that the software to add features to Tivo are not there.

    So, if I read this right... the reason I can't copy SOME shows to my PC is that they are copy-protected by Comcast??? (my cable company)...

    For example... HD NFL games, some HD networks shows?

    I've been seeing this since I got setup to receive HD channels... I thought it was just the large size of the recordings.

    Yes, primarily with cable card equipped Tivos.

    It quite possible that the control freak NFL insists on the bit being set on their stuff, but in many cases cable companies set it on content on which the content provider has not insisted that it be set.

    Just because they can. Just to screw with you and try to push you toward renting their equipment.
