My annual contract with TiVo expires tomorrow and I may not renew unless they offer discounted lifetime service. I've had the Bolt for 5 years, this would be my 6th year renewing and with Comcast moving more and more channels to IPTV and no longer offering VOD on TiVo, it just doesn't make sense to keep the TiVo service.

If I cancel the service, can I still watch recorded shows?

There are a lot of recorded TV shows and movies I'd hate to lose. Is there any easy way to transfer or back up shows using a Mac? I'd need to use an external HD to do the transfer because the HD on my laptop is full.

    Thanks for any advice!

KMTTG can download and remove the encryption, too.

I tried running KMTTG following the installation instructions but the .jar file won't open. I'll have to keep trying (or try another app) I've had this computer for 7 years and didn't know about Terminal until today...

I've run KMTTG on a Mac, so I know it works.

Do you have an appropriate version of Java installed?
