    Back to Life

This promising new show (created by and starring Daisy Haggard, whose character was hilariously eccentric in Episodes) premieres on Sunday, Nov 10, with back-to-back half-hour episodes on SHO starting at 10:00 PM ET/PT.

I have created an OP but it is not picking up any of the showings to record and the TiVo guide has not labelled any of them as new.

I assume that the system will correct itself before Sunday rolls around. But, just in case it doesn't self-correct, I would keep an eye out. There will be multiple repeats during the following week anyway, so there is no major harm done if the OP fails to record the premiere airings.

the eps won't be labeled as new, it was produced for the bbc, then showtime aquired the six-part series after it's british airing - set the 1p to "new & reruns" and it will schedule the eps.

I'm going to disagree with your analysis of the problem.

If a show is airing for the first time on a premium channel like SHO, then the guide should attach the NEW label to it. And, in fact, the TiVo Online guide appears to have labelled all airings of ep. 2 (including all of the upcoming week's reruns) as "new." So something is amiss.

The “new” label is pointless. Go by “First aired” date.

What a system *should* do is not always what it actually does. Yes, to us a show should be flagged as new, but it isn't in their database that way. Then there is the problem that a label which appears in the description field is not the value which a pass uses to decide what to record. That is a secondary layer of the system not doing what we think it should do, but our only option is to work around how it actually behaves.

The advice from NorthAlabama is accurate.

I've had this on my watch list ever since it was announced. Daisy Haggard, as chiguy50 mentions, was a great background character on Episodes. From what I've read, she actually created this series.

BTW, one more vote for NorthAlabama. TiVo almost always uses the OAD of the original showing of overseas imports. Seen it time and again.

The actual issue appears to be in how the episode number appears in the guide database.

Episode 4, airing on Sunday, Nov 17, at 10:30 PM EST, is the only one that is being picked up by my OP (set for "New only") for recording. This is the only current episode which carries the three-digit episode designation (104). The others are labelled simply ep 1, 2, or 3.

My guess is that the OAD of episodes 1-3 are outside the range for TiVo to consider them new while episode 4 has a more recent OAD. When I looked at episodes 1&2, the OAD was only last month so they are not very far in the past.

    And . . .

The TiVo guide has self-corrected, just as I had anticipated it would.

All four episodes within the guide's timeline (the first two tomorrow evening and the next two a week from tomorrow) have now been identified as new and are marked for OP recording.

    Oh, ye of little faith!

FWIW, all six episodes of season one are available for streaming via the Showtime or Showtime Anytime app or at the corresponding web site.
