I have been informed by DirectV that "in order to receive our complete HD programming later in 2007 and TO AVOID LOSING ANY CURRENT HD PROGRAMMING YOU ARE ALREADY RECEIVING" you will need to install the B Band converter module in your H20/21 and HR20/21 receivers.

I know that I will not be able to receive the MPEG-4 stuff with my HR-250 TIVO, but will I need the B Band converter for the HR-250? Am I likely to lose any HD stuff I am getting now with the HR-250?

Important: How will the NFL HD package be broadcast? Is this going to MPEG-4?

    HELP!

The B-Band converter is not for the HR10. It's only for those DirecTV boxes that are MPEG4 capable (those listed in the message you quote). Without the BBC, those boxes cannot receive from the new satellite launched earlier this year. The HR10 can't receive them no matter what.

I have no clue about NFL HD, but don't get your hopes up regarding it staying where it is.

You won't need anything, unless you get the HR20 or H20 receivers.

To get the new HD content... you will need a new receiver, and part of that will include the installation of the new dish and the BBC's

Actually, it's looking like testing of the new D10 satellite is on schedule, so the new HD channels should go live by mid-September. An H20 HD Receiver or HR20 HD DVR along with the 5-LNB Ka/Ku-band dish will be required to receive those channels, of course.
